Elliott Ward, Ph.D.

Dr. Ward

Dr. Ward received his BA from the University of South Florida with primary study areas in both psychology and biology. He received his PhD in psychology from Vanderbilt University with additional courses in neuroanatomy through Vanderbilt Medical School. He spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow in neurophysiology at Tulane University and a second year as a postdoctoral fellow in neurophysiology at New York Medical College in New York City. He completed a two-year clinical psychology internship through Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute and spent an additional four years working with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health. From 1977 to the present Dr. Ward has maintained his own private psychology practice. As a component of his practice he provided consulting psychological services to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center (TRC) from 1981 to 2003. At TRC he conducted individual and group counseling for clients with a broad range of physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities. He is a member of the Tennessee Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Rachel Gunn

Ms. Gunn

Ms. Gunn earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University in 2014, and her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. She has vast experience with kids, young adults, and the geriatric population. She has substantial knowledge associated with neuropsychological evaluations, as well as assessments for ADHD, OCD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. She completed the Vanderbilt Volunteer Advocacy Program in December of 2016, with a focus on classroom accommodations.

Lisa Wascher

Ms. Wascher

Ms. Wascher earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1983, and went on to earn an additional Bachelor's in Mass Communications from MTSU in 1986. She earned a Master's in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2007, and completed her license as a Professional Counselor in 2013, earning the title of Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP). Her practicums were completed at The Refuge Center for Counseling in Brentwood, TN, and her internship was through Magdalene House in Nashville, TN. Ms. Wascher is experienced with head injuries, insomnia, pain management, cardiac rehabilitation, and stress management programs.

Jessica Huddleston, M.A.

Ms. Huddleston

Ms. Huddleston received both her B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Tennessee State University. She obtained her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Criminal Justice Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. She completed her clinical psychology practicum at Vanderbilt's clinical neuropsychology program. She is currently working on her PhD in Public Administration from Tennessee State University. Ms. Huddleston is licensed as a Certified Psychological Assistant, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation. She has a special interest in the logic and procedures of standardized testing accommodations. She is a graduate of the Vanderbilt Volunteer Advocacy Program with a focus on assisting children and families with IEP's and 504 plans.

Wendy Foster
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Mrs. Foster

Mrs. Foster earned her Master's degree in Social Work from the University Of Tennessee in Nashville. She has 14 years of experience providing crisis intervention, mental health treatment, and substance abuse treatment. She has been trained to provide Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In addition, Mrs. Foster has training in trauma treatment and personality disorders. She implements a cognitive behavioral approach, which assists clients with identifying and challenging distorted thinking and developing more balanced thinking.

Marie Murphy

Ms. Murphy

Marie Murphy received both a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Nashville. She completed her practicum at Cumberland Counseling Solutions in Cookeville, TN, working with teenagers with emotional and behavioral difficulties, and previously volunteered as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children in the foster care system. She is experienced counseling individuals coping with anxiety, depression, oppositional or defiant behaviors in teenagers, parenting difficulties, trauma, attachment issues, and mood disorders. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation, Mrs. Murphy has a cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approach to therapy, which involves re-engineering thoughts and behaviors while shifting one's focus from a problem-oriented perspective to one that is solution-based.

Shannon Black

Ms. Black

Shannon Black received a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Psychology and Social Work from Valparaiso University in 1997. She received a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University, and completed her practicum at Mental Health America of Middle Tennessee, working with at-risk students and her internship at The Next Door Nashville, working with women with substance abuse and trauma issues. Shannon has experience working as an in-home therapist with families with substance use, trauma, attachment issues, relational difficulties, parenting challenges, emotional dysregulation, and challenging behaviors. She has also worked with families and children involved in the foster care system and adoption. Furthermore, Ms. Black has an interest and training in addressing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, parenting difficulties, trauma, attachment issues, mood disorders, and substance use. She is also trained in Motivational Interviewing and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation, Ms. Black has an attachment-informed and trauma-based approach to therapy, which involves creating new, secure neural networks and addressing developmental wounds. Ms. Black teaches Ethics and Adolescent Development in the Psychology Department at MTSU in addition to her fulfilling work at Sabin Behavioral Health.
